About Us

Karen obtained her degree in optometry from Bradford University in 1990 and qualified as an Optometrist in 1991.She went on to open K Frank Opticians in 1993. The vision of the practice was and still, is, to provide quality service and value for money.  From humble beginnings , her first patient being  her uncle, Mr John Higginbottom, the practice has grown significantly over the years. John is still a loyal patient! Working alongside Karen now are Receptionists Carol and Julie. As a GOC registered Optometrist, Karen’s extensive experience has seen her serve previously on the Stockport Local Optical Committee. She has interests in many areas of Optometry including children’s eye examinations and contact lens work.

The practice is involved in providing local enhanced services such as pre-cataract assessments, post cataract follow up checks and cycloplegic refractions for children referred from the local clinics. More recently she has acquired a Sport Vision Diploma, and can provide tailored Sport Vision assessments to meet the requirements of most sportsmen and women. This lead onto Karen sponsoring Cheadle Hulme based professional golfer – Pascal Ogden. Pascal has benefitted greatly through the use of Acuvue Daily disposable contact lenses and Maui Jim Sports sunglasses. The lenses were selected using a process of colour preferencing.  This enabled Pascal to have the best possible vision – particularly when putting on a green.

“Most keen golfers will tell you that wearing ordinary sunglasses inhibits their ability to execute good golf strokes,” said Pascal.  “However the beauty of Sport Vision is to identify the colours which work best for the individual sportsperson; for me, blue is the colour.  Tinted lenses also enhance the definition of the golf course, providing particular advantage when trying to read the green.  Thank you Karen for the Sport Vision services you provide.”
